The following are the 5 reliefs Richard Sky is seeking:
1. He is seeking “an order that “The Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2024” passed by Parliament on 28th February 2024 is in contravention of Articles 12, 15, 17, 18, 21, 33(5), 106, and 108 of the 1992 Constitution of the Republic of Ghana and should be declared by this Honourable Court as null, void and of no effect.
He wants “a declaration that Parliament exceeded its authority in passing “The Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2024” as the same imposes a charge upon the public purse.
3. He is praying the court for “a declaration that, upon a true and proper interpretation of Articles 102 and 104 of the Constitution, Parliament lacked the requite quorum to pass “The Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2024”.
4. He pleads for “an order restraining the President from assenting to “The Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2024″ as such action will directly contravene the Constitutional safeguards of liberties and rights of Ghanaians.
5. He is praying the court for “an injunction barring any attempts to enforce the provisions of “The Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2024,” particularly those criminalizing same-sex relationships and related advocacy efforts.”
I do not see the Supreme Court granting any of the reliefs. There is no legal precedent for the judiciary to direct the legislature on how to do their job. The blame should squarely be placed on the shoulder of the president. He has not followed procedure. The president cannot hide under the cover of the SC's consideration of the Sky's reliefs. What the president should have done is to let parliament know his areas of dissent and offer alternative for parliament to consider and amend before he signs the bill. The bill is not law yet. Therefore, I do not see how the SC would honour the reliefs.

The Soviet Union under sanctions assisted many developing countries and Russia still under sanctions is still assisting developing countries not only to develop their human resources, but as well to fight terrorism which U.S. and her allies foist on us in the form of Islamic terrorism that they call Islamic State or ISIS.
It was over sanctioned North Korea that trained and assisted Zimbabwe to overthrow British colonial apartheid regime of Ian Smith in Rhodesia.
It is the over sanctioned Iran that establish hospitals across Africa including Ghana and not over supplied with arms to kill people Israel.
