  GSS is only counting products the have been officially reported and recorded correctly by relevant authorities. All goods leaving Ghana unrecorded are missing in the statistics. Outgoing it's probably just Cocoa smuggled to Togo and Ivory Coast.
  
  But a huge chunk of imports are missing from the statistics, which is obviously every product entering the country avoiding official tax and customs declaration. Those grey imports are constantly on the rise given the extremely high cost of customs tariffs and fees. Both presidential candidates have pointed to the issue recently.
  
  However, those huge amounts of imports unaccounted for definitely turn the small trade surplus into a huge deficit in real terms. A fact eventually documented by the enormous losses we see on the Cedi Exchange Rate.
