  It's only in Ghana that import duties are higher than the cost of items purchased. Import duties don't make any economic sense in Ghana

  It's only in Ghana that imported duty is higher than the cost of item purchased. Nobody understands the calculation of imported duties at the port of Tema.

  Mr. Yeboa how much would you ask a friend to pay for a shirt you bought for N100 in Nigeria, which for argument sake, we assume you smuggled into Ghana? N100 or the cedi equivalent? We have a problem with the exchange rate of the cedi. This has lived with us for a long time and it's about time it is fixed for international trade purposes. Why are exporters are not complaining? They face the same condition (?).

  The Ghana GRA is a corrupt entity killing Ghanaian businesses with their shady methods of calculation. Why would you check the price of a car in foreign currency when the car sometimes doesn’t even worth the value. Sometimes people get gifted with new or used cars that they can’t afford to on their own, so why are you calculating such a high import duties when you yourself knows that it’s too high. What about Ghanaian senior who are on retirement, they should be giving some incentives when a relative gift them a car. Their duties should be cut fifty percent. We should honor our seniors in this country and Nana Addo, the president should see to do something about giving senior some incentives, to make life easy for them.
