Unfortunately, our “Ghanaian Cedi” will depreciate again sooner. Did you noticed why the Cedi has risen? The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has sold over $200 million in dollars multiple times, in January 2023, and the last quarter of 2024.
The BoG sells dollars to address demand pressures and to prevent the Ghana's local currency from depreciating.
What does this mean? Are foreign exchange reserves sufficient to avoid depreciation?
Ensuring long-term stability will require deeper structural reforms. Such as:
(1) Consistent policy implementation to support economic stability.
(2) Fiscal discipline to consolidate government spending.
(3) Export-led growth to strengthen foreign exchange inflows.
(4) Reducing reliance on external debt to ease vulnerabilities.
None of these is achievable under the current fiscal policy.

Just that the level of illiteracy is too high in Ghana hence we allow politicians to play with our intelligences. We have many graduates just to say they have acquired degrees yet they fail apply their intellectual sense. It funny to hear people saying l am graduate but if you listen to his/her analysis and a way of debating issue you will definitely vomit. the truth of our country and it's economic cannot be magically managed. Our politicians should fix the real fundamental cause of dollars and fuel ups and downs. I believe if NPP has got the magical solution l don't think they would have messed up themselves to be booted out. Same way if NDC previous government had got the solution l don't think they would have also messed up, since being in power is so beautiful and nice. The same trend is going to continue untill Jesus Christ comes. Unless we get different forces to eradicate all these problems with lasting solutions. Just mark my words NDC will never make life better as they claimed during campaign. We the electorates should stop partisan and tribal politics and look at Ghana's interest first.
