Very constructive and insightful, considering the strong gains from that sector last year. This makes me wonder why our government cannot enter into strategic partnerships with either local or foreign entrepreneurs to develop world-class mining operations that support our economy. If Saudi Arabia, Iran, Gaddafi’s Libya, and other oil-rich countries can rely on their natural resources to improve their lives, what is stopping us from doing the same? The USA is currently engaging in massive drilling to restore its economy, and we here in Ghana can do the same in the mining sector.

The government must take absolute control of all our minerals and extract them for our own development. Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah established the State Gold Mining Corporation comprising of the mines at Tarkwa, Prestea, Dunkwah and Konongo. He also established PMMC.
All these people speaking for the mining companies are paid or sponsored agents. The government must make it mandatory to make mining the exclusive business of the state.
