  Claiming that European countries make money on rejection of visas is hilarious. They have to cover the cost of processing the visas, denied or approved. The processing cost per application might easily be higher than 100 USD. ...

  Besides, the applicant knows in advance that he/she could be denied a visa.

  WE ALWAYS VOTE FOR IRRESPONSIBLE SELF-SEEKING PEOPLE TO LEAD US, AND THAT'S THE PRICE WE PAY FOR OUR STUPIDITY. I'VE NEVER HEARD ABOUT AN AFRICAN LEADER TAKE ON THESE FOREIGN EMBASSY OFFICIALS WHEN AN ORDINARY UNCONNECTED AFRICAN IS DENIED A SHENGEN, US OR UK VISA.

  It's all due to poverty in Africa. Rich countries in Asia travel visa free. or get visas easily to Europe or America. Because they are rich they go on holiday and spend money there as well. The reason Africans are rejected is due to our poor economies and the need for most to leave the shores of Africa for greener pastures. Applying for immigrant, settlement or working visa is a difficult process so most will attempt a visitor visa but then overstay by trying to find employment and make some money. Visitor visas are termed to be a previlage and not a right so the high number of refusals as they suspect most applicants to be would be immigrants and not just going for a short visit.

  African governments should insist on rejected visa fee refunds. If you reject the visa, please refund the fee fully. A Netherland resident Ghanaian was rejected visa to UK. He insisted on the refund of his visa fee and he was immediately granted the visa that was earlier rejected. If you have nothing to loose make a scene. Insist on your refund. I was refused a transit visa over the UK before even when I had a valid visa to my final destination I demanded a refund of my visa fee and he was refused. That was pocket picking to me.
  All in all let's blame our Foreign Affairs Ministers who do not have such a basic arrangement in place In the first place.
