Thomas Ampem Nyarko is the Deputy Minister of Finance
Deputy Minister of Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, has disclosed that Ghana is fast-tracking efforts to diversify and strengthen its financing strategies by engaging with international investors to explore innovative funding mechanisms.
According to him, the government’s core objective is to optimise its financing mix to align with the country’s national development priorities and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Speaking to GhanaWeb Business on June 17, 2025, Nyarko Ampem highlighted key strategies being pursued to secure sustainable financing for national development.
“We are also deepening our engagement with institutional investors, leveraging guarantee instruments, developing the domestic capital market, and exploring carbon finance mechanisms,” he said.
In addition to financial instruments, Ampem emphasised the need for a policy environment that supports long-term development.
He noted that such an environment would help integrate climate investments to address climate change-related issues.
“We recognise the importance of aligning our tax policies with SDGs, integrating climate investments to address climate change, and promoting gender-sensitive fiscal policies that guarantee inclusivity and equity for all citizens,” he added.
