  Martin Kpebu shouldn't be talking about the effects of this war on Ghana. No one throws a missile at Ghana, so we are safe and our economy is in the safe hands. Was he not among those who said Russia and Ukraine thing doesn't impact our economy? This is how people whose emotions have overcome their reasoning become double-faced individuals. If you stand for the truth your hypothesis will always stand the test of time no matter what. I am not NDC but I won't be a pathetic untruthful person, like others, to say our economy won't be affected by this war. That's what separates objectivity from dumb political subjectivity. But, their own lies and propaganda is what is going to hit "the last nail to their coffin". Because not everyone will be kind enough to accept from the NDC what they denied whiles in opposition.

  @MT. Clearly the spending patterns of the NANA ADDO government during the period did not in anyway bear evidence of an economy subject to a double global crises. We had more financial inflows as a nation than we had ever before had both domestically (record tax rake-ins) and from external sources. We still do not know how and for what exactly these WINDFALLS were used. Ghana did not suffer severe economic crisis at the time BECAUSE of Covid and/the Russo-Ukraine war. Our economy went to junk due to state-sponsored criminal expenditure finding its way into private pockets. In short, it was a ruthless raid on the public kitty. The evidence is in the public domain and the numbers tell their incorruptible tale.

  Nobody has said anywhere that Covid and Russo-Ukraine war did not impact Ghana at the time in anyway whatsoever. The claim was proven fraudulent on account of the performance of the economies of neigbouring countries with similar variables who did not have a fraction of the real time interventions Ghana enjoyed during the period which completely upends the global crisis argument. Indeed, instead of applying common sense, human-centred policies to trigger economic recovery and growth, the Nana Addo government quixotically WEAPONISED those two global misfortunes against the citizenry by implementing the most draconian tax regime in Ghana's history while frittering away all our financial hedges and substantial inflows on a profligate spending spree and staye-sponsored expropriation of the national purse. This was the reality then. Prove that it is so today.

  NPP are a vicious criminal cartel who do not deserve coddling. That war was a convenient excuse, a just-in-time smokescreen to justify all the state-sanctioned thievery which was the proven reason for our national economic tragedy at the time, whose ghost still lingers. You forget that in the same period, the Akuffo Addo government was the recipient of the greatest inflows of cold cash in our country's history. That could have easily cushioned the economy. All of it was expropriated. You may choose partisan propaganda as your staple but do not insult our intelligence with the Russia-Ukraine hogwash.

  The fact is that those who are in the fossil fuel marketing sector will not allow it, since Ghana turning to renewable energy will deprive them of the profits they are currently making.

The REALITY is that these so-called "renewable" energy sources are excruciatingly expensive to maintain and make absolutely no economic sense in the medium to long-term compared directly to fossil-fuels except as back-up. And contrary to popular view, fossil-fuels have nothing to do with "Fossils" at all and are indeed renewable. We will not be seeing the "extinction" of oil/gas anytime soon.
