FARMLANDS ARE INCORPORATED TO THE DESIGN, LAYOUT AND CONSTRUCTION OF ALL SCHOOLS SINCE INDEPENDENCE. OUR FOUNDING FATHER (NKRUMAH) WAS VISIONARY. MY PRIMARY SCHOOL HAD A FARM. THE MORNING SHIFT HAD THEIR OWN FARM AMD THE AFTERNOON SHIFT ALSO HAD THEIR OWN FAR. MY JSS HAD FARMS TOO AND BOTH THE MORNING SHIFT (A1) AND AFTERNOON SHIFT (A2) SHARED THE SAME FARM. AT JSS, WE GREW POTAROES AND MAIZE AND EVERY STUDENT HAD THEIR OWN POTATO BED AND WE DID THE MAIZE SECTION TOGETHER. MY SECONDARY SCHOOL HAD VAST FARMLANDS BUT WE WERE NEVER TAKEN THERE TO TILL THE LAND BECAUSE AGRICULTURE WAS NOT PART OF THE SECONDARY SCHOOL CURRICULUM. OUR UNIVERSITY ALSO BOOSTED (BOOSTS) OF VAST FARMLANDS AND THAT ONE IS FOR THOSE SPECIALIZING IN AGRICULTURE. BRINGING FARMING BACK TO PRE-UNIVERSITY SCHOOLS IS A VERY LAUDABLE IDEA THAT WILL EQUIP INTERESTS IN FARMING IN ALL GHANAIANS WHILES PREPARING THOSE WHO WANT TO BUILD CAREERS IN FARMING TO BE SUCCESSFUL. NDC WILL CONTINUE TO WIN PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN GHANA FOR THE NEXT FOREVER YEARS. NPP AGU! NPP WILL COLLAPSE IN OPPOSITION. 3Y3 ZU !!!

To plan, strategize and implementation. Because of their clueless mentality, we are importing food that we are supposed to grow because of what? Loans conditionalities from the IMF and World Bank. Please observe closely how past administrations have handled or tackled agric. As both of you rightly put it, are the schools the only solutions in feeding thousands of students?Some of us suspect strongly that our current president and his appointees are not comfortable whenever we compare them to the leadership style of next door neighbor Ibrahim Traore's approach in solving solutions in EVERY sector of his administration. The answer to all his problems was to kick out those two evil institutions. JM knows that can never be possible with him, otherwise he will not spend a day in office. Either assassination or coup d'etat. Those are the signatures of the world bank and IMF!!

Are you not supposed to come up with policies and implementations in order to spread technical support to regions where farming is the only option? Planting for food and jobs is now Feed Ghana. The farm can be crops, animal or fish depending on the locality. Every district or metropolitan Assembly must also own a farm if Ghana wants to be self sufficient in food production. The produce from these farms could be sold to the schools within the districts. Leave the students alone to concentrate on their studies. Who is going to work and do the harvesting in the farm when the school is on holiday ?'

  Wow, the first time I have seen a Ghanaian politician using their brains..come on this minister is very brilliant..kudos to him..when nana Addo launched the free Shs, this was one thing that I was expecting him to do..a lot of Senior high schools in Ghana has vast lands that could be used for farming to feed the students..these are the kind of politicians that Ghana needs..this is a laudable idea..this is common sense..why should the govt spend so much money on good When there are vast lands in most Senior high schools that could be used to do farming..when I was in secondary school, as an agricultural student, we had a farm that we were even selling some of our produce to the communities..students should be taught to be hardworking and know how to Feed themselves..kudos to the minister but this initiative should start asap because most of the shs have lands for this farming projects..

  Are you not the same people complaining that the SHS students don’t have enough contact hours? Why are you now talking about introducing farming in addition. Why shd my son or daughter be turned into a peasant farmer or farm laborer in the name of what? How is that going to benefit the kids? Are we really serious as a country? In this 21st century? Even those attending purely agricultural schools shd be taught how to use machinery and AI to advance agriculture not to be peasant farmers. This agric minister shd rather come and tell us how he is going to increase cocoa prices as he promised when he was campaigning and stop thinking about this useless policy.
