  Sell it to schools and colleges u can make it.The government will only help when u do that.or make it into powder and sell it to other countries who eat pounded yam.make it into chips and freeze it to sell.

  Yams are highly perishable is grossly over priced so be happy and sell sell sell so that the poor can stop eating too much gari and eat yam too.

  It costs a lot of money to ship yam to north America and Europe.
  
  This is a break down:
  *A 40ft container to NYC takes 1,200 boxes of 25kg packaged yam
  *Each box contains an average of 12 tubers of yam ( it is relative to time and season)
  *100 tubers of yam averagely costs Ghc 2,000. Meanwhile, you will have to pay Ghc 100 commission on each set of 100 tubers.
  You will need about 15,500 to 16,000 tubers of yam for 1,200 boxes for a container.
  *Transportation of each set of 100 tubers costs Ghc 120 - 150 depending on the location of purchase.
  *Ghc 10 as loading fee per set
  *Ghc 10 as offloading fee
  *Each box for packing costs about 25 cedis
  *You will rubber tapes for the boxes
  *brushes, foams, knives are needed for cleaning.
  *4 or 5 bundles of wrapping paper (print-free newspaper type) cots about Ghc 2,000 per container
  *Binding ropes and pins costs about Ghc 600 per container
  *Workmanship (cleaners, packers, binders loaders, sweepers)
  *weigh bills, and others charges
  *warehouse, security and electricity
  *when it comes to cleaning, workers uses about a week or two and sometimes 3 weeks to make the goods ready for packaging
  *freight forwarding charges costs about USD 2,500
  *BL and freight charges varies from one shipping line to the other but can cost about USD 10,000
  * Broker charges
  *Rail or truck charges
  *other taxes
  *offloading container charges
  * Remember yam tubers are perishable so do the plus and minus
  
  *Remember the above lists are for sea transport
  Meanwhile, air transport is way expensive than sea transport
  *A 25kg box of yam can cost about USD 25
  *Logistics charges and others.

  100 tubers for 4000 is still expensive. It means one tuber is GHC40. At least one tuber should be going for GHC10 to GHC20 so the average Ghanaian can afford

  Ok if the export will not help why not take them in trucks to hop sell from town to cities then schools to restaurants, canteen, school feeding pls let's look after ourselves before exports.
