  Given the rate at which our farmers are selling their farms to galamsey operators, cocobod should get ready to make their own cocoa farms. That’s when they can appreciate that the price paid to farmers is too low. When cocobod cultivates its own farms, they will realise that even if they grow cocoa from Aflao to Elubo and from Accra to Paga, they will not earn enough to pay their salaries, allowances, housing, cars and bonuses. Look at their pensions. Which cocoa farmer has a pension? The way things are, cocoa farmers are subsidising the luxury lifestyle of cocobod management and workers.

  The above statement issued by the Cocoa Board is way off mark, disingenuous and very misleading to the public.
  Mahama and his NDC callously campaigned on the promise that ,when they are voted into power, the NDC government WILL INCREASE THE PRODUCER PAID TO COCOA FARMERS TO 6,000 CEDIS.
  Now the NDC has been in office for almost 8 months,and instead of delivering on their promise to our cocoa farmers,
  the government has rather resorted to obfuscation, ,semantics and misleading statements from meeting their 6,000 CEDIS prior commitments to our farmers.
  To me, this is a classical case of PROMISE MADE PROMISE UNKEMPT. The NDC can't run away from this fact.
  It's as simple and basic as that.
