We can learn a lot from Singapore, a country that started more or less at the same economic level in Ghana in the 1950s but has managed to transform itself into an economic giant on the world stage. It's not even a full=-sized country but rather a city state made up people from very diverse backgrounds, cultures and religions who have learned to work together as one nation.
THE PEOPLE OF THIS REMARKABLE CITY STATE HAVE FORGED A VERY STRONG NATIONAL IDENTITY IN SPITE OF COMING FROM DIFFERENT RACES. This is part of the key for their success. Singapore is also one of the least corrupt countries in the world. It is extremely rare in Singapore to hear of politicians or those in positions of authority abusing their office for personal gain.
Soon after independence Singapore started its rapid economic development by giving top priority to building infrastructure (excellent road networks, maritime and air transport, education, healthcare, telecommunications etc).Singaporeans always give absolute priority to education. Parents will sacrifice their comfort to ensure that their children get the very best education possible. Singapore also stands out as one of the best countries in the world where the rule of law is respected and upheld.
MOST PEOPLE ARE VERY SURPRISED WHEN THEY DISCOVER THAT THIS ECONOMIC GIANT OF A NATION IS IN REALITY A VERY SMALL PLACE GEOGRAPHICALLY.
