We have Timber Marketing Board, Cocoa Marketing Board all this while, what prevented us from having Gold Marketing Board. I think we went to bed and stopped being innovative. Kudos to those who deserve it.

Ghana reserves in Jan 2024 was $9 billion (4 month import cover) compared to $4 billion in 2016, and a GDP of GHc1.3 trillion compared to only GHc230 billion in 2016.

Ghana reserves in Jan 2024 was $9 billion (4 month import cover) compared to $4 billion in 2016, and a GDP of GHc1.3 trillion compared to only GHc230 billion in 2016.

Gold price in 2024 was 2,300gh and previous govt improved gold reserves of 8 tonnes in 2022 to over 31 tonnes in 2024.
Gold price now is 4,333gh but our gold reserves is only 38 tonnes and dollar reserves only $11 billion after spending over $10 billions to buy gold this year. With the highest gold price in history, Ghana made a loss of $214m after buying and selling gold produced in Ghana. That's the conundrum!!
