Demolishing must go on without any hesitation. Makola is filthy, dirty, congested, crime scene, indiscipline a d all the bad things one can think off. How can our main capital business district be in such a miserable state.

Any time discipline is enforced then politics gets in the way. You see motorcycles driving in wrong directions, running red lights, swerving in and out of traffic, driving at top speed without light at night and yet police just watch like idiots allowing this nonsense. Same applies to squatters and illegal kiosks and sellers all over the place. Authorities just watch as they spring up and do nothing and then when it becomes a total mess find it difficult to do anything because now they are against a huge crowd and mob who know how to shout and demonstrate to get the vote fearing politicians attention. Politicians travel to other countries but learn nothing about how discipline on roads and a city should looks. Instead they go to enjoy and come back and that is all.

A weak Ghana Government and a weak state is endorsing lawlessness and chaos for political reasons. Even Uganda has demolished the chaotic market in their CBD to give way to modern structures in order to uplift the face of Kampala. We will never develop in Ghana so long as we don't have leaders who put the country first before their party affiliation. This is clearly a move from the ruling party for political votes. Sometimes it feels like we don't see how underdeveloped we are as a nation.

Why should government stop the demolition? Is the government happy with what the traders did to the erected fence? Ghana government must be proactive, build markets for the traders in the outskirts of town to decongest Accra.

As much as I support the demolition, the Government should first make available a place for them (at the outskirts of the city) to carry out their commerce. At the end of the day, it is also about peoples' livelihood.
