  The current price of gold is the reason everyone thinks they can manage and operate a goldmine in Ghana. Those who have followed the industry would understand that the rush to localise ownership is a dangerous venture and may lead to the eventual collapse of this pillar in our economy. The commodity can lose about 50% or more of it's price in just a day. And when that happens it will only take investors with stronger financial muscle to sustain production and keep their manpower. Many state owned mines like the now Goldfields Tarkwa mine, now Heath, and now Anglogold obuasi mine were all state mines until we mismanaged them coupled with weak financial backbone. I urge the government not to fall for this emotional push to take back mining companies whose mining have expired but rather get a better deal. People's jobs and the economy are on the line.
