Goldbod losses are unrealized losses as a result of accounting policy perhaps even imposed by the IMF who is capitalizing on to discredit the economic recovery path Ghana is currently demonstrating to the rest of Africa how to manage their resources. Goldbod has made life more livable with stable exchange rates, lover imported goods prices. I expect the opposition NPP to sit with NDC to improve upon this for the future Ghana they aim to rule. The IMF has no genuine interest in our economy than to keep it as a borrower and source of raw materials for their own industries. What surprises or disappoints me is the silence of the Institute of Chartered Accountants - an independent body offering to assist government find the real situation and solutions than living on politicians to slug it out. What is their use when it comes to the matter of such interest where their independence could clear up and show the path for sustainable progress?

But come to the G4R policy, all 1.7 B N loss is attributable to it. So sit there and tell Ghanaians that 100 MN over 2 years is worse than 1.7 BN in one year alone. Respect our intelligence small.

His point about the reported losses dropping from 14.5% to 11.4% in the first quarter is meant to prove that the losses were manufactured. But I'm not buying it. The Goldbod was a new venture, and it's natural to expect higher initial costs. The fact that the losses decreased at all is a positive sign and should be acknowledged, not disparaged.

This supposed ecomimist (Dr Banor) cannot fathom the fact that assay fees can be adjusted over time to ensure maximum beneficiary outcomes. Fees, rates, charges, etc, are never static anywhere in the world. They are regularly adjusted to reflect changing circumstances. Even the Kayayei on the streets of Accra know this reality, yet a supposed economist is befuddled by it. What strange times we live in.

We are a country with memory, and we can remember how over ambitious projects established in the early years of our nationhood haven't helped or even thrived to help our course.
