  Use hedging: Gold purchases should be hedged with futures, options or other approved derivatives to protect against a fall in gold prices before the gold is sold.
  
  Sell strategically: Government should not sell gold simply because the market is strong. Sales should follow a clear reserve-management strategy, especially when the cedi needs FX support.
  
  Set a target price: Establish minimum and target prices for gold sales so that large purchases are not exposed to unlimited price losses.
  
  Match buying and selling: Gold purchases should be linked to planned export/offtake contracts, reducing the risk of buying at one price and selling later at a much lower price.
  
  Diversify reserves: Do not keep excessive reserves in gold alone. A balanced mix of gold, US dollars and other highly liquid assets gives the Bank of Ghana more flexibility to support the cedi.
  
  Use gold-backed derivatives: Government should develop a professional risk-management desk that can use derivatives and hedging to manage gold-price, currency and timing risks. Ghana has already proposed gold-backed derivative and hedging strategies. 
  
  Create a rules-based selling fund: Gold sales should be governed by transparent rules—for example, sell a predetermined portion when reserves fall below a target or when FX liquidity is needed, rather than trying to predict whether gold prices will rise or fall. This would make gold a tool for stable cedi support, not speculation.

It has been reported that John Mahama has brought a Moslem cleric from Kano to be an advisor of his so-called Sharia banking in Ghana. It is very ridiculous to see the Governor of Bank of Ghana standing side by side with this so-called Sharia expert. Ghanaian Christians who form overwhelming majority must rise up and oppose this nonsense before Ghana is set on flames like it's going on in Nigeria now.
