It must be privatise so every region or two will get it's own electricity company.
This will bring competition and efficiency. They can easily be monitored and regulated by PURC.or a body that will monitor their operations ...

ECG IS A DISGRACE! It is institutionally corrupt, we all know that we have to pay for everything from ECG even when it is supposed to be free of charge. Incompetent workers around and spend half their time installing illegal connections which the paying customers have to cover. Those with political connections that never pay any bills at all are the same. Total lack of maintenance, no teams ever go out on inspections, they sit in cars waiting for breakdowns or failures in the system. Power outages without warning at any time and any query to ECG is met with "it will come soon"! Root and branch overhaul is required!

Nonsense, for who to continue paying for its losses? Ghanaian taxpayers can't bear this albatross forever, just for the sake of workers and unions. At least cut down losses, break even, then you can have a conversation.

The ECG prepaid system really sucks. When one does not buy prepaid every month, they take all your money when you buy ECG Prepaid. A friend told me that ECG deducts ghc 11 per month for street lights. What is annoying is that, there is no transparency in the billing system. There's no indication of any charges on one's account. They just take your money. On two occasions, I bought 200 worth of electricity, and they took all the money. They sent a message that the transaction failed, and they took the money. Some of us don't consume a lot of electricity, so it takes longer to recharge.
ECG must stop their shady deals, and print all charges on one's account. We customers have a right to know all deductions, and what we are paying for. This nonsense must stop!
