Dear Sammy Gyamfi, am writing this letter to u as a concerned a Ghanaian..the establishment of Goldbod Ghana is an excellent idea and it’s helping the Ghanaian economy but to be honest sometimes the pricing of Gold for local Miners, small scale miners aka galamseyers is not the best at all..If care is not taken Goldbod will become like cocoavod where it will make the gold miners poor whiles the big men at the top become extremely wealthy..there am appealing that Goldbod will sometimes increase the price especially if the international gold price is high, it must reflect in the Ghanaian gold market..now u have made it solely the responsibility of only the govt to purchase gold from miners. Therefore u must give them good prices and not some peanuts..gold miners should not become poor just like cocoa farmers just because the govt treated them poorly..I wonder how in recent times, good prices keep going down and down almost every week..like what the hell is going on..this shot needs to be fixed..gold buyers are loosing too much money because gold of has been giving bad pricing..

Why buy gold from your own citizens at a cheap price and go sell them at a higher price in the international market? Sammy Gyamfi is not a seasoned economist. He should move carefully and cautiously without causing financial loss to the nation. Someone ask this tangible question, Does the Goldboard Act authorises the Board to sell dollars? The deviation from their legal mandate is where the biggest problem arise and watch my words he is going to cause a big financial loss to Ghana. No matter the benefits, this is a move which notable and seasoned economists must deliberate on its effects and implementation. We dont have to rush in this case else the next time we would hear either a scandal, or some judgement debt or some kind of financial loss due to some petty petty mistakes and omisions. If this is not a scandale in the making, who are the great economic brain behind this move. Please, there is something fishy in this policy. President Mahama, some of us are skeptical of this policy, laudable but fishy with all the ingredients of a scandalous policy

If it is an extension of the bank of Ghana, why would the bank itself carry out this duty. Because it the central bank and has the skilled staff to handle it better. Because we have been told that Goldbod is not efficient in its mandate. It is making losses in its transactions. If it is incompetent in doing what it is supposed to do how can we be sure it can handle a delegated function?
I am sure it is a wise decision by whoever transferred this function it.

We have now created a monster for the country. We don't know the true value of the Ghc versus the dollar because of how heavily the BoG is flooding the market with dollars. Any govt who decides not to follow this path will be faced with the free fall of the cedi as the stability is artificial and not structural.
And just like cocoa we will soon be going for syndicated loans to buy the gold like Cocobod does every year as the govt cannot sustain the administrative losses. Govt should not be selling kenkey, cocoa or gold.
