Well, another oil has been found offshore Ghana. The Nzemas must stand up and be counted! They should not let any one mess them up!

Accidents and other incidents associated with oil production; here, I use the word, 'accident', carefully; because the producers will be in the area for a long haul there is a high chance of an accident happening in the process of producing the oil during the period and the Nzemas, the people in the area, are first to suffer the most from the impact when they happen. Paradoxically, jormolo, is an area starved of development by successive governments, Nkrumah's included. Past promises have been hot air; at best, broken. There's no meaningful occupation. Fishing provides the wherewithal for living in the area and this will be affected - no meaningful alternative occupation. With the oil production and its consequential adverse implications, the area should be provided with a large chunk of development from the oil revenue for the betterment of the people living there; for, if an area is developed it opens occupational outlets for the people. The Nzemas have suffered too long to let go this opportune moment without a 'fight'. What happens in eastern Nigeria should be avoided in western Ghana. THIS IS FOOD FOR THOUGHT FOR OUR PRESENT AND FUTURE GOVERNMENT. A word to a wise is enough, the saying goes!

As long as I know, the first ever commercial oil was drilled just last year - all other years have been just exporation, just like the one found by ENI of Italy.

Do you think the foreign companies that explore for drill the oil will just give all the money they get from the sales, without first paying for machinery and the loans the collected from various banks and other financial institutions etc?

Moreover, Ghana has just about 10% of all net revenue, and from that sum another 10% will go to Kuffour's Caymans Island company (under the hidden name EO group) so you can imagine what we'll get.

In short: you don't see the benefit (and of course the disadvantages) of oil driling within a year or two of production. You do so after several years.
