It was your own people greediness, laziness, corrupt attitude which made all your local airlines on these Europe routes collapse.

What Mr Woodrige is only saying is that if you want to compete on these European routes you better put in the same competitive practises of BA, KLM, Lufthansa etc, and eschew greediness, laziness and corrupt attitudes otherwise just like GhanaAirways and GIA in the past you would not survive .

However, the airline, ridden with debt, ceased operations in 2004. Attempts were made to revive its fortunes, but to no avail; and in June 2005 the airline was liquidated.

We have been there before and havent forgotten what happened to previous ventures - Late arrivals, late takeoffs, overbooking, confusion, fat and moody flight stewards, debts and collapse. Mr Woolbridge wasnt pulling the wool over our eyes he was just being candid. He knows a national airline cannot compete. Govt should not attempt another suicide and waste money

The cheek. We are not in colonial days, Ghana independence is long passed and if there is a viable national carrier it is the choice of Ghana/Ghanaians where it flies not BA.

Ghana now we are rising this is the time to keep our eyes open.

With the discovery of oil and gas and foreign investors trooping to ghana coupled with the country marketed and recognised as gateway to west africa and tourist destination,ghana can not sit on the fence and allow other foreign carriers to make huge profits from the air transport boom in the country.the benefits of having a new national carrier definately are more than the cost.I do not agree with JAMES of british airways that the new carriar should focus in africa alone,because many ghanaians and foreigners in America,canada,europe and africa were flying on both ghana airways and ghana international respectively before they collapsed ,so the market is still there except taken over by foreign airlines,if a new airline is created and efficiently and cost effectively managed couple with punctuality,reliabity,good fleet management and maintainace,friendly customer care of its services to the travelling public i see no reasons why the airline can not compete and make profit to survive.

It nearly was ground over the last Xmas and had to get immediate government guarantee to keep it flying. the profitable routes are minimal.Emirates, kenya Airways,Ethipia Airways are ran almost private hence their performance.

One national airline strike will send the whole project crumbling. ONE REASON FIR NATIONAL AIRLINE.. REMEMBER THAT THE PRIVATE AIRLINES, ANTRAK, CTK, ETC ARE ALREADY NATIONAL AIRLINES if we are true to them, support them. Even country manufacturing aircrafts HAVE NO NATIONAL AIRLINES...THE RIIIISSSSKKKS ARE JUST TOO HIGH HIGH, like a virgin, a small prick of corruption it is gone forever.
