The Californian pension fund Calpes lost 500 milllion $ using papers which were rated "AAA" by the big rating agencies. Fitch, Standard & Poor and Moody's do not only estimate credit-worthiness, they determine credit-worthiness. These rating agencies work on behalf of the credit granters, which are interested in high interest rates. The US government, secret services, banks, companies work together as a network to exploit countries like Ghana and others to keep them in endless debts to be able to take away all of teir treasures.

I am reading in Ghanaweb nearly every day. I try to learn from professional publishers as well as from the comment writers. I am aware, that the US were downgraded too. Probably the power of the rating agencies has been going to their head too much.I know that neocolonialism by debts today is done by Chinese too. I still don't know what Germans do to exploit Ghana, probably they are not innocent.
But the fact, that other foreign criminals than the first mentioned ones are active, does not decrease the guiltiness of the Americans. Be aware, the small people like you and i and ordinary people around the world are not the evil ones. The evil ones are the top managers and their politician friends. The NDC team has a task on it's hands to turn around things for themselves and for Ghana. Can they do it and would they do it, is another topic for discussion altogether. However, the indices, numbers and metrics when carefully looked at, doesn't bode well for our economy. They have started with knee jerk reactions like the increase in fuel prices, which really does very little to address the core issues. You see, you cannot use propaganda to run a country and if you don't how to handle things such ratings would expose you. The gains that the NDC were falling over themselves to sing praises to themselves were the direct result of prudent economic measures from the NPP 8 years in gov't which trickled down to their adminstration. Now let's see how they turn things around, with their own balloooning wage bill, public expenditure bill which is also ballooning, but it's really just a fraction of gov't expenditure and the undiversified economy which is mainly the export of cocoa, gold and now oil.
