If Parliament was not quick to increase the emoluments first for the President and then the Vice, to lulled us to sleep and then giving themselves garganntuan loans, I would have supported you. However what is good for the goose is equally good for the ganda. If Government is unable to increase wages for Public and civil service personelle, then Government must reduce the emoluments for the President and then Vice and revise the loans given to Parliamentarians.

I really don't know what Mahama ate or drank when he approved MPs allowances for rent, salaries by 100% and fuel prices. Did he think about the ripple effects it would have on his government.

If there is any labor unrest or agitation, Mahama caused it and must deal with it because he will not listen to advice. Very soon, the teachers and nurses will start and it will be justifiable. What he needs to do is to revise those unpopular decisions.
James was talking about what Margaret Thatcher did to weaken the union. Did Thatcher increase MPs salaries by 100% and give them 50,000 Pounds for rent allowances? Mahama is just bringing problems on himself.

When I first learnt that mahama used the words "productivity" and "wages" all in one breadth I was hoping he was going to say "parliamentarians" next: In effect that he was going to slash their allowances, including his (mahama's) own ridiculous pay raise. For him to open his mouth and say that public/civil sector workers were being overpaid was an insult on ALL Ghanaians (including the regions that voted "en-masse" for him. The question I have therefore is"How productive is mahama himself? Destructive, yes; productive, NADA.

What's sauce for the goose is equally sauce for the gander. Mahama and his cronies had no time to wait for the economy to improve before embarking on the astronomical increase in their salaries and benefits.Meanwhile we , the people were pining away from hardships arising from bad fiscal and economic policies of this same administration.The minimum wage/salary is no more a living wage/salary. Prices of goods and services have jumped to the roof whilst workers' salaries and wages either stagnated or hardly kept pace with the rising cost of everything purchaseable and necessary to sustain life.In the face of the hard economic realities of today Mahama must show leadership and solidarity with the suffering masses by slashing the salaries of himself, his appointees, parliamentarians, etc. who saw a pay hike last year to their former levels and instead increase workers' salaries and wages. That's what responsible leadership does. If Mahama thought it right to increase the salaries of the people's servants isn't it even more important and necessary to increase the salaries of the geese(we, the workers) that toil night and day to lay the golden eggs under very trying circumstances? We're watching with eagles eyes what the vultures will do with the carcass and also to confirm or repudiate the thought that Mahama and particularly the NDC are bad for governing no matter how you slice it.
