Many Ghanaians, especially, the Danquah-Busia tradition memebers have accused Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah for destroying Ghana untill the military overthrown him from power, Thank God, if Nkrumah hadn´t fought so hard while being opposed by the criminals (UP)for establishing Akosombo Dam, what would have been the fate of Ghana, in terms of electricity power today. After 47 years absence of Nkrumah in Ghana we have had over 10 different solid leaders, yet common water they couldn´t provide for the people of this country. Now you see, Ghana is DEAD totally DEAD. And as Nkrumah said.. When I`m GONE, the Ghanaians will take touch light to look for me, but in most cases they willn´t find me.

The VRA needs to find ways to produce more power to help us now. Our businesses and livelihood are being affected currently so it's hard time the men in positions act for a change.

And for God sake the truth is the government is the problem. The government of Ghana owes ECG and VRA money once 1999 but instead telling the truth we hear this bullshit.

Let this time be a careful reflection to sought out money to grow real infrastructure that can serve all of Ghana and beyond. The demand of electricity is so high that it does not take any genius to tell that if Ghana invests in it, it will reap enough to even use to pay the lazy government workers who always demand more pay.

It's time that government start seeing that Ghana cannot develop without have enough power to power up factories etc. Ghana cannot develop without constant flow of water. Why such basics are not met, what is the basis for taxpayers to keep paying taxes for government?

The Energy minister must call an emergency summit of the energy production and distribution organisations to trash out a plan to sought out this mess immediately.

The WAGP has been fraught with problems since its inception. The problems must be solved now in conjunction with our partner countries, so that the gas flows regularly to enable the Takoradi thermal plant produce electricity economically.

Work must be expedited on the Jubilee gas pipeline as an additional source of gas to the thermal plant. Similarly the Bui dam must be constructed and commissioned quickly to produce electricity.

If all three projects materialise within the next few months, we would go a long way to dealing with 'dumso'.

Going forward, we need to put in place a proper maintenance programme to ensure the regular generation of power. We must invest in alternative forms of energy like solar, biogas and wind. We need the utilities to collect all the arrears owed them immediately.

first of all the problem facing the country at the moment is a combination of two main challenges; capacity and cost. current capacity is a little over 2000MW. coupled with the fact that not all this can be operated at all times due to unplanned/planned maintenance. thermal units the world over undergo these outages, but most it are unnoticed by consumers because there is redundant capacity waiting to be deployed when such contingencies occur. in Ghana available capacity is neck to neck with demand so any outage whether plan or unplanned would result in load management. obviously the solution to this more capacity. But extra capacity from what source? renewables?? well going solar or wind is laudable but is limited by cost and capacity. renewables like wind and solar are very expensive per kwh. also capacity wise renewables offer very little capacity. so if we venture into renewables we might not be able to bridge our demand supply gap anytime soon. the reasonable choice is large scale thermal projects to bridge the current deficit. for that to be sustainable we should explore the use use of cheap fuel (natural gas) to provide realistic tarrif for consumers.
