  "Torching on the country’s debt Mr Terkper stated that the public debt including government guaranteed debt increased by 23 per cent from US$15,350.08 million in 2011 toUS$18,832.77 million by end-December 2012. This, he said, represents 40.8per cent of GDP in 2011 and 49.4 per cent of GDP by end December2012"
  The qustions are:
  1. What type of expenditure caused the 23% increment if the government claims they reduced inflation to a single digit, which implies that inflation fell in real terms? The plausible cause(s) could be due to:
  i. Excessive government expenditure to finace the incumbent's election campaign or;
  ii. There is no fiscal discpline by whoever is managing the financial affairs of the economy of Ghana
  iii. There is so much waste in the government administartion and minstries such that budgets are prepared for budgeting sake as nobody takes responsibility to manage it.
  2. What improvement in the economy can be shown for the 23% increment?
  It is unfortunate people support leadership blidly on the groupds of tribalism, party-affiliation, nepotism, etc, instead of addminstrative and mangerial competency.

  The socalled stabilization the minister is talking about is whitewashed because the ndc gov't borrowed heavily to shore up the dollar through long term bond borrowing. Should those bonds mature and the people demand their money, we will be back to square one!
