In 2009 when Prez Mill took over power, TOR was working. There was no fault with it. DUe to greed of the Mahamas, Awhois and the rest, TOR has not refined crude for the past two years. Now John Mahama wants to sell the company to his brother to buy it with the country's stolen money. Where has the mantra Ghanaians can run their own industries gone? If we have to hive off part of it why dont we go to the GSE? Continue stealing the wealth f the nation, and the time will come for you to answer for your actions.

Any money spent to resuscitate or even upgrade TOR is money well spent. We spend several millions on projects that don't bring in needed revenue for the state.

The government payroll bloated with ghost names, party functionaries salaried from state resources for virtually no work done, the over duplication of duties and functions just to give jobs to cronies and surrogates ,the monies spent from state coffers on laptop, cars, 4x4 vehicles, etc. to woo voters before the elections were all unnecessary waste of scarce resources. It was money down the drain.
Why do we need an overly overtly partisan Council of State whose effectiveness and usefulness to the state is very doubtful? The huge increases in salaries and benefits of the executive, judiciary and legislative branches of government at a time when the economy is in the tank is outrightly unnecessary and outrageous and for good measure,they ought to be restored to the old levels.
Massive official corruption drains our resources and all the others listed above snuff the life out of viable state projects like the Tema Oil Refinery.
It does not make any damn economic sense to waste scarce financial resources on stuff that we dont need whilst leaving TOR to rot and decay and suddenly turn around with the suggestion to partly privatize the hen that lays the golden eggs. Doesn't it sound like the old tale of giving a dog a bad name to hang it?
It doesn't make any damn economic sense to export every drop of the state's share of crude oil only to import petrol, asphalt base, kerosene and liquefied petroleum gas at great cost that we can produce locally at lesser cost to the state.
It does not make any damn economic sense to sell the hen that lays the golden eggs for a pittance to cronies and surrogates.
The pndc/ndc brand are well noted for selling state industries for a pittance to their cronies and surrogates like what Rawlings did to GIHOC Nsawam Cannery, selling it to Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings' 31st Dececember Women's Movement.
Are we, the people going to be idle by-standers and goofers as they sell another state asset that we need? We should not. We should be screaming into their ears "we no go sit down make you cheat us everyday,dabi da !"

TOR needs to be listed on GSE to allow indigenous Ghanaians to own shares and the accrued capital will be used to revamp the refinery.
