The expansion of the economy is meaningless to the numerous unemployed youth raming the streets of the country. It means very little to the working people who cannot make ends meet, who have no water, electricity and healthcare. It means nothing to the ordinary people who cannot get gas to cook or those who are crying due to increasing school fees.

Buddy you sound more a lecturer than a practical economist. You said "It is anticipated that the economy will achieve a growth rate of between 8.5 and 9.0 percent at the end of 2012, when the final Gross Domestic Product (GDP) estimates are updated by end April 2013. By the way what impact does it reflect in the leaving condition of the ordinary person? Seth this rhetoric of yours will not bring any prosperity.
Your main aim is gearing towards taxation and not thinking about job creation. It is fiscal prudent to expand the job creation base which in turn broadens the tax net. Over taxation kills businesses which you are aware. What you need to think about is pruning down Government expenditure and tackle the most pertinent issues which links to job creation. The ordinary Ghanaian do not understand all these figures you are presenting. What they need is getting employed and providing for their families. Period. E&OE.

So, let's do a simple Math here. The total value of all the goods and services produced in one year in Ghana is GHC71.5billion. At an exchange rate of roughly GHC2/$1, this is about $36billion. Divide this by 25million people and the Per Capita GDP is about $1,440 per year or $120 per month. One member of parliament receives a salary of about $3,600 a month. So, one member of parliament receives the income of 30 Ghanaians. In contrast, one Congressman in the United States receives the income of 4 Americans! Folks, this is our GHANA! And the American Congressman is not given a car, a house, a garden boy a......

The GHC71.5 billion translates to about $36 billion. This is the total value of ALL the goods and services produced IN GHANA including the Oil and GOLD most of which go to foreigners. Even if we take it that all that money go to Ghanaians, that amounts to $120 per person per month. How many Ghanaians are outside Ghana? If we assume that there are 500,000 Ghanaians outside Ghana and that on average each Ghanaian makes $40,000 a year, that means the total income from these Ghanaians is $20 billion, more than half the entire GDP of Ghana! Do you see my point? The Ghanaians living outside Ghana make almost the same amount of money that the entire Ghana makes from all the Gold, Cocoa, Timber, Oil, Manganese, Bauxite, Plantain, Cocoyam, Cassava, and all the services at Kantamanto, Makola, Kumasi etc. etc. What are we doing as a nation? The worst part of this is that only a small portion of that money actually goes to Ghanaians and most of that small portion end up in the pockets of thieves (another name for Ghanaian Politicians)!!
