While I absolutely agree with Special T regarding his comment....eluding to the fact that Ningo and Prampram are made up of the same Flesh and Blood...he should try telling that to the Ashantis and Brong Ahafos on their long standing land and chieftancy disputes. Tell it to even to Prampram and New Ningo who are closer neighbours. I just believe in upholding legitimacy. Since Great Ningo gave birth to Prampram and New Ningo. Its just proper to give that recognition. Special T, its not nonsence, infact it is sensible to do the right thing. God bless Great Ningo and God bless the New Ghana International Airport. It is a welcome news that Accra is to have a new international airport. It should therefore be of high-class and of the best international standard in every sense. It is time we, in Ghana think way ahead and plan strategically ahead, just like Dr Kwame Nkrumah did for Ghana. I have the following advice to the Ghana planners:
- Multiple runway. The new airport should not have less than three, with provisions to expand them o six.
- start sending Ghanaians to train in the administration and management of civil aviation industry. Set up a training school near the airport to cater for ALL the needs of the airport, equipped to provide the highest caliber workforce of any category.
-Provision of aircraft docking platforms and walkways to quickly transfer passengers from carrier to airport baggage halls, customs and immigration halls, and remove bus fleet shuttle services.
-the baggage hall should be VERY BIG AND SPACIOUS, AND SHOULD NOT BE LESS THAN TWELVE with provision for future expansion. The reason is simple; this is one of the bottleneck areas in every airport around the world. Get passengers a fast as you can off the baggage halls to have enough time to go through the customs and immigration, which are two very VITAL areas for control and security.
- Comfortable and large waiting halls for travelers and their love ones. The present system of a traveler saying "bye-bye" to a love one at the outside door entrance is humiliating and inappropriate.
-Check-in halls should be large, based solely on the number of carriers flying to the airport, and the number these airlines would want to assign to their staff to serve their passengers. Every carrier would want to spent as little time as possible in getting their passengers in carrier as quickly as possible. I suggest each airlines should be assign FIVE or more check-in points. Some airline may want a permanent check-in points.
-airlines that want to provide self-service points should be encouraged and such provision envisioned as it takes space, and every space at airport is vital, and every effort should be made to make it free flowing without congestion.
-Car parking should be first class, fast and efficient, with more than enough parking bays. This is based on the estimated passenger capacity per annum of the airport. This is an area the planner should invest a great deal of time. as is one of th bottle-neck areas. A passenger coming with own car must have space to park and freely walk towards the main airport building.
-there should be more than one entrance to check-in halls. For every twenty metres there should be an entrance to the check-in halls. These entrances should be free flowing without any restrictions imposed by security asking for your air tickets and passports as it is the case presently.
-the Duty- free shops halls should be large to encourage Ghanaian entrepreneurs to trade there, and to offer more choice.
-the road, which should be called AIRPORT ROAD, should be a modern SIX LANE fast flowing carrier artery moving cars coming to the airport. Where this road joins any city road, there should be an interchange, raised so that it maintains that fast moving pace. It should not be joined to any major road network as much possible should be avoided. A three lane ring road at the outskirts of GREATER ACCRA (not Accra city) should help passengers travelling from other parts of Ghana to quickly access the airport. This would truly and truly make Accra-Ningo Airport airport hub, not only for the sub-region but beyond. This is where Nkrumah's GOLDERN TRIANGLE HIGHWAY, a super fast six-lane highway joining Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi could be realized for Ghana.
Are all these possible? Yes it. It requires dedication and honesty. The nation must be build otherwise we collapse as a nation. For years we have built Ghana with words. It is time to put blocks and mortar, asphalt and aggregates, machines and equipment together. Let us install them where they are due for the development of this great nation. Building and developing infrastructure creates massive job openings for the youth and our graduates. Don’t forget the youth and these graduates are the future leaders of Ghana. We should treat prepare and train them well

The ningo youths would generate a lot of income to cater for themselves and their families by earning royalties on their name affix to the airport. In the United states of America many important places have been named after many illustrious sons of the country. Though they see George Washington and Abraham Lincoln as the greatest, yet many state and federal buildings are also in the name of other prominent people. But in Ghana, why is it that they want to name everything after Nkrumah whereas he did not single-handedly obtained independence for our beloved country?
It looks as if the Big-Six were no important except only Kwame Nkrumah?

Nkrumah not only won us independence, he expanded education to cover the whole populace, built Akosombo dam to provide electricity, modernised agriculture, improved healthcare and laid the foundations for an industrialised economy.

Above all he gave us the self-belief that we could forge our own destiny as Africans,and advocated a united Africa.

Naming public places after him is the least we can do to honour such a great man.
