  Start with our embassies. The workers don't know the reason why they are there. Go to the Ghana Embassy in Washington. Its so funny. How can you promote business in the States when the embassy sits there doing nothing to promote business with the largest economy of the world! Besides Ghanaians reading Ghanaweb and other websites, a lot of Ghanaians in the diaspora knows nothing concrete about investing at home. Start by improving that and stop spending unnecessary travel money!

  To lure potential overseas investors into the country, the government should advertise more of the areas which it has prioritised for investment in the country. The best way to do it is to take spaces in overseas local broadsheet newspapers like the "Times" in England and United States, for instance, and others in Germany, France, Russia and China. In these countries, week-ends advertisements in their papers are more effective. Local entrepreneurs tend to sit around at home to read news papers. The television network in these countries is also an effective area to advertise. Though the cost involved in taking up spaces for advertisement is high, the reward is infinitely priceless.

  Investors in the energy sector will always remember the case of VALCO. The leaders of Ghana never saw any thing wrong but you can't eat your cake and have it. Let us as a nation address the VALCO case and apologise.

  German foreign minister commends Akufo-Addo
  
  Germany's Foreign Minister, Dr Guido Westerwelle, has commended the New Patriotic Party (NPP) 2012 presidential candidate, Nana Akufo-Addo, for choosing to contest the results of the December 7 polls in the Supreme Court and not inciting his followers and supporters to take up arms.
  
  Dr Westerwelle said Ghana continues to shine on the African continent as a growing democracy worth emulating.
  
  The foreign minister who is on a two day visit to Ghana, called on Nana Akufo-Addo to discuss among others, the electoral petition in the Supreme Court.
  
  Nana Akufo-Addo said the NPP is happy with the process so far and "we are happy also that the Supreme Court is putting in place measures to ensure the expedition of the process."
  
  He explained that the party is not in court to disrupt the country's democracy, assuring that the NPP is committed to a peaceful democratic Ghana.
  
  "We did not go to court to destabilize our democracy but we felt that there were systematic violations of the process which we believe affected the overall outcome of the elections and that is why we have chosen to challenge in the constitutionally designated forum the results as declared by the Electoral Commission." Nana Addo explained.
  
  He said "like President Mahama, I will stand by whatever ruling the court makes."
  
  The NPP leader said Ghana's economy has performed better in the fourth republic largely due to a stable democratic environment and it is important therefore for everybody to commit to the protection of Ghana's democracy.
  
  He said the NPP hopes, God willing to adopt the German economic model of apprenticeship, skills training and development for small and medium scale businesses.
  
  He observed that central to that however, is education and that is why the party has committed to providing free senior high school education for all.
  
  "Ghana has enormous potential and prospects and I am confident that with the right leadership, our country will make tremendous progress," he said.
  
  Nana Addo said Ghana needs today a structural transformation of her economy from raw material production to value addition.
  
  The two gentlemen also discussed issues concerning ECOWAS with Mali taking centre stage.
  
  Nana Addo noted that he is happy with the ECOWAS and French intervention on Mali.
  
  He thanked the foreign minister for calling on him and wished him well.

  Government says it has no money to pay road contractors in the country following complains by some road contractors about the effects of the non-payment of their outstanding payments.Roads and Highway Minister, Alhaji Amin Sulemana, however, in response has indicated that the current wage bill and demands of striking labour unions is putting pressure on the public purse and is therefore not in a position to pay contractors at this time"

  NADMO has lamented that it will not be able to help in case of a disaster this rainy season because of crippling debt while international humanitarian agencies are reportedly fed up and frustrated with Ghana’s inability to deal with perennial flooding, especially in the capital Accra."We are in debt amounting to GHS186m. In the last four months to the end of the year, nobody gave us a pesewa. Go to Finance (Ministry) and find if they have given us one pesewa to buy petrol. My people in the regions and districts, you can contact them. Nobody has anything. Our warehouses are empty".

  SADA money not accounted for - MP raises alarm
  
  A member of Parliament’s Finance Committee, Afenyo Markin is demanding the whereabouts of GH¢38m which was part of the GH¢165m disbursed into the UBA account of the Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA) by the Finance Ministry. He noted that when the Finance Minister appeared before the committee, he said GH¢165 million has been given to SADA for various projects. But when the Chief Executive of SADA appeared before it, he said he has only received GH¢128 million.

  If you pay for a goat, you will get a goat and not a cow and Ghanaians bought a goat in December 2012 but expect the taste of cow meat.Why are the voters in Ghana complaining about what is happening in the country when they knew from experience of President Mills administration that the Mills/Mahama tandem is not up to the job and still voted for Mahama if the 2012 election can be accepted as legitimate? Now the country is in the precipice of disintergrating if precent events can be used as a gauge in evaluating what is in store for the country. A former Army Captain cautioned Ghanaians to brace themselves for a Military coup if we don't change course and improve the economy and received a torrent of insults for telling it as it is.
  
  A university Professor by name Dr Gyampo said almost the same thing about the dire political consequences the country is facing if the economic situation is not improved with these words;

  After many weeks of this administration denials about the government being broke, the Finace Minister, Mr Terkper finally admitted of problems in this administration in meeting its financial obligations to the country and just yesterday, April 12, 2013, we read in Ghanaweb forum the reality of the total collapse of the Ghana's economy.

  SADA money not accounted for - MP raises alarm

  As recently as December 2012, NDC was trumpeting about its gargantuan achievement in migrating workers to the Single Spine Salary Structure (SSSS),something I have said repeatedly was wrongly implemented. Now it has been admitted by NDC and some Labour Experts that, the implementation of this policy has wrecked havoc to our economy coupled with the EC and NDC bonehead decision to create forty five new constituencies and 45 District Assemblies that has increased government Employees by at least one thousand people at a time this government should be decreasing the size of the government.
  
  No country on the face of God green Earth can survive when the government is using even 50% of its revenue on government workers salaries alone let alone 75% as this administration has done. We were using just 25% of our revenue to meet the salary obligations of government workers as recently as June 2012 until NDC decided to buy the loyalty of the Security services when their salaries were trippled which culminated in all other government workers demanding the same increase that has trippled government wage bill from 2.5 billion dollars to 8 billion dollars. Now 75% of all goverbnment revenue goes to meet salary obligations before we pay interest on the government debt of 17 billion dollars which leaves practically nothing for infrastructure development.
  
  Professor Stephen Addai,A former Rector of the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), has this to say about the SSSS,"the implementation of the policy will destroy the country if care is not taken."
