Nuclear energy is a technology of the past. The Minister should instead help our local engneers refine and adapt the new Technology of energy production--using wind, sunshine, water. Mr Energy minister you are the best and a breath of fresh air. You are the one we have been waiting for and truly ready for prime time! I knew it was going to take another Nzema soul, charisma and pride, so thank you so very much. Oh yes we can! "the increasing demand for power in the country calls for accelerated measures to venture into nuclear power, adding that the time had come for critical consideration of this option." Your next agenda should be high speed railroad, with that will come employment of security officers, token and ticket sellers, motor men, conductors, computer scientists and programmers, porters, electricians, the list is endless and businesses will just boom, when good Ghanaians can travel cheaply at the speed of over three hundred miles per hour and above! May God bless you kindly and shower you with wisdom and fortitude. May it be done in our lifetime. Please consult immediately the Russians for the records of our land based oil research and findings mapped under the Osagyefo regime, they approached the previous boring colorless in-energetic energy minister with it, who in his naivete refused to follow through, Damn it! This is no fluke Nkrumah, found oil but shunned an oil based economy for a sophomoric Ghana with a bad ass and violent opposition.

Solo,if you really think you need nuclear power then you are in deed inferior to the whites. You see, they have realised what a foolish idea it was to have started it at all. Intelligent people now talk about using sunshine, water, wind to produce energy. Africa could then be the leader in energy production if we start now learning and adapting the t echnology for our People.Do not forget we have a lot of excellent engineers around. Nuclear power will soon be a Thing of the past. If you think we are inferior to the whites--i do not think we are,anyway--then better start helping to clean up our towns and villages, tell people to stop defecating in the streets, tell your government to force all parents to send the children to School instead of dreaming about nuclear energy. By the way--where would you deposit the dangerous nuclear waste?

What an illiterate idiot! Where exactly in Ghana do you plan to build this nucclear power plant? A country that cannot dispose of sh** and p*** properly, a country where tap water for domestic use runs one night a month in parts of its capital. Where will Ghana find the water to cool a nuclear reactor?
The whole of the Ghana coastline is threatened by an active fault. After Japan, Germany, Italy and UK, among others, have been rethinking their nuclear programmes. What cheek for a country that cannot maintain 24-hour internet coverage, a country that depends on hand-outs to fund its national budget going nuclear? What a bunch of jokers.

If Kwame Nkrumah were alive he will have thought of other alternatives and realized in this era, that nuclear energy's radiation when exposed to humans and animals is deadly. We know what happened in Japan, a year or two ago, don't we?. We can't even process our sewage waste, they just dump it in the ocean. The fishes eat them and we end up eating the fishes, so we have a cross-infection, and we wonder why people die so young in ghana. We are cause of our own problems. We are so religious, instead of us coming together to put our ideas together to make a change in ghana, no, we rather go to church, or show-off our wealth,! we are just naive, then God help those who help themselves.

I couldn't have agreed with you any better,Mike. Our capital city is drenched in filth and stench and this idiotic Energy Minister with ties to looters cloaked as political entrepreneurs is talking about nuclear energy for Ghana.Who are we kidding? If we cannot pick trash from the streets of Accra, how are we going to get rid of the toxic by-products of nuclear energy production, huh?
This is one of the ways these Ministers make their ill-gotten monies...by entering into these wild business ventures only to get cuts from looting the country. For crying out loud,Mr Minister, look towards solar energy.God has been scourging us with its power so we 'll take notice. Some Scandinavian countries with a fraction of sunlight vis-a-vis Ghana supplement their national grids through solar energy, why not Ghana that sits below the equator and "enjoys"maximum sun rays ninety percent of the year?
Lets not be fanciful here.Lets use the sun to power our industries, homes and commercial habitations. It'll enhance our lifestyles and would impose no danger to our people.

Nuclear power in Ghana would be a big mistake. Many countries around the world are recognising now that wind power, solar power and other renewables can meet all their energy needs, and more, without the many problems of nuclear power.
The nuclear industry is notorious for telling lies. They will tell you that nuclear power is cheap, that it is ‘always on’, that it is clean, and that it is safe. None of these things are true.
Our research shows that nuclear power is much more expensive than renewables, but many of the costs are hidden from view. Renewables are getting cheaper, while the cost of nuclear power has been on a rising trend for many years.
Like all kinds of equipment, nuclear plants can fail. But when a nuclear power station fails, it is particularly disruptive because it removes a relatively large amount of capacity from the grid and it normally does so quite suddenly and without much warning. By contrast variations in wind power are much more gradual and there is normally several hours warning. The “Combined Power Plant” which links and controls 36 wind, solar, biomass and hydropower installations spread throughout Germany has proved to be just as reliable and powerful as a conventional large-scale power station.
Nuclear power is far from being a zero-carbon source of power. Peer-reviewed research shows that the nuclear cycle emits between 9 and 25 times as much CO2 as wind power.
And nuclear power is not safe. Since the Three Mile Island disaster in 1979, the world has been averaging one nuclear disaster every 11 years, and that excludes several near-disasters such as the Narora nuclear plant in India in 1993, the Wylfa plant in Wales in 1993, the Davis-Besse plant in Ohio in 2002, and the Forsmark plant in Sweden in 2006.
