  No country in the world is now subsidising the price of petrol. What governments are doing is minimising the tax element on the petrol. The government should use the money for the subsidies to transform other sectors in the economy. Feeder roads construction, housing, schools, hospitals, etc. It is the wealthy who benefits most of such subsidy.

  Tell Christina Daseking to stop the hypocrisy,When the US & other European Nations subsidizes to its farmers and other industries, they call it stimulating their ecconomies, yet when it comes to Africa, they want to hold our feet to the fire. Africa, I prophesy to you that you will not be trampled upon or looted no more. You will be the Bread Basket of this world and youi will never dimish in man, woman, children, and all the treasures of the field or prosperity. Your Land would not lack or be stolen by strangers anymore, you will be a blessing to the world, you will not be a borrower but a lender, you will lack nothing that you need in Yeshua's (Jesus') name Amen. This is the message for all who do not want Africa to prosper or multiply.

  I think the pressure is a good thing. For 1 thing, the IMF is mostly concerned with investments in development. If the gov't is taking IMF money and using that to pay for new electrification/water purification activities, but then using it's own money/loans to pay for subsidies, then the gov't isn't really being serious about development - hence, the IMF is justified in calling for gov't to recommit to using the national purse to pursue development instead of subsidies
  
  Also... why are you comparing agric subsidies to fuel - agric subsidies go on to promote development, increase food security, raw materials for industries, etc. Our fuel subsidies mostly go towards the cost of gas in our cars and gas for cooking. Not nearly the same thing from an economic development stand point. Yes, it does make things easier on the average Ghanaman, but don't confuse the 2. I think the IMF call is right, gov't already spending way too much and hurting the economy if all it has to show for it is low gas prices instead of development

  The first move would be to remove all subsidy on fuel to the Mining companies. Why should the poor Ghana cocoa farmer subsidize the business of giant multinationals whose shareholders (at least 90% of shareholders) live, work and keep their wealth outside this jurisdiction? Energy takes about 20% of the production cost mix of mining operations. If your business needs any subsidy to be viable, especially on the back of impoverished folks, how do you justify a business case to operate in the first place?

  About 40% of EU Budget is for Agric Subsidy ! USA subsidises the Cotton Farmers in the South with MORE money that Mali cotton exports! Why does the IMF NOT tell these two bodies the SAME ??? We SHOULD BE PRUDENT with our National Revenue.....and the LESS we NEED money from IMF, the BETTER it is for us !!!
