  The government should still subsidise so that farmers can afford to purchase the fertilizer to improve upon the yield of crops.Because already the prices of fertilizers are high and most farmers find it difficult to buy .

  Do we have any prorities at all as a nation? Fertilizer production is not rocket science. What's preventing us from producing fertilizer locally so we wouldn't have to import them any more at exorbitant prices? They say a hungry man is an angry man so one would expect that every administration will wisely make agriculture a major national priority.When I say making agriculture a major national priority I mean increasing especially local food crop production in such a way that food becomes cheap for the average consumer whilst the farmer also rakes in good income. The US has been very successful in food crop production making food cheaper for the man in the street because of subsidies paid to farmers by the government.Our national security and prosperity will remain mere rhetorics and fleeting illusions if there's no food security.

  Food prices are also rising in the USA due to high farming input. Fertilizers are derived from petrochemicals ( global market prices). The government needs to stop subsidizing fertilizer and have farmers use manure. It is che ...

  Food prices are also rising in the USA due to high farming input. Fertilizers are derived from petrochemicals ( global market prices). The government needs to stop subsidizing fertilizer and have farmers use manure. It is cheaper and and can be produced locally.
