Ghana currently has rules that are not enforced. There are areas/markets in the country where foreigners are not suppose to sell but do. Foreign traders are suppose to invest $300,000 in the country but most get around the rules by saying they are wholesalers.

The CURRENT rules are not being enforced. What is the use of putting new rules that will scare away investors to Ghana? The government needs to ACT and not pass legislation, in my opinion. They need to STOP foreign companies that are set up as 'distributors' from doing retail.

Buying and selling by foreigners will only serve to increase revenue leakage and disempower local entrepreneurs and drain the circulation of money locally. Profits from the retail sector must be spent locally to generate jobs. The economy must be protected from foreign economic predators.

As much as the interest of the Ghanaian is key in these discussions we should not forget of shortages and price hikes. Shooting down foreigners with laws to disenable them from competing is not the solution. The Ghanaian was asleep when the foreigner came, take a look at the banks for example, had it not been for the foreign banks the ordinary Ghanaian would still have no access to a bank account.
We should be real in these matter, the Ghanaian lacks the capacity to do what the foreigners are doing with such level of success or if not why don't they just go and compete.

Then I ask, why can't the companies be allowed to import the stuff themselves. Mind you Ghana is in dire need of foreign investors and if not for the peace and stability here they would have been long gone. Remember cost of labour is cheaper in your neighbouring countries and as well have the numbers.
