Kojo, you have truly spoken like an idiot. First, Ashanti Gold is not entirely owned by Ghana. Further, Indians are far more capable than Ghanaians and have achieved far more since their independence. There are Indians currently running Fortune 500 companies including Pepsi Co and she is a woman. Ghana is a country whose universities, many of them bogus, run mainly management courses and yet the country cannot manage anything. Who in Ghana would you put in charge of Anglo Gold? Other than Sam Jonah, who was CEO and now retired, there is no one else. I expect Kojo you think Ghanaians should take over the oil drilling and prospecting, perhaps you could head the team.
Do not make postings just because you can, you just do not have the brain cells. I would normally not waste my time on postings like yours but sometimes one has to put people like you in your place.

You cannot allow anger to get in the way of your thought process. Kojo, just like any concerned and proud Ghanaian, has great expectations of his people, and rightly so. Kojo has maybe heard Ghanaians making critical contributions to the development of other nations so he is right in demanding the same for his country.
In terms of capability, I would say every human being- except developmentally challenged ones, have it in-built. Factors that creates the separation are environment and training. Most of these CEOs of fortune 500 or lower were groomed into that position. Regardless of how much schooling you have, a company like Coca Cola will not place you in charge of a multi-million dollar division until you have been groomed to do so.
In sum, we cannot realize and utilize our capabilities as a people without the right training. The training I am talking about is one necessitated by vision, buttressed in a national agenda devoid of political nurturing and sustained by the people's desire and willingness to pursue it.
Keep in mind India was once written off by the "know-it-all" economists and the so-called experts on development. India chose not to heed their advice in most instances, and stuck to the fundamental truth that STEM- Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics is what will get them out of the rut. The Chinese, Japanese and in fact most of Asia appreciate that fact except Africans. Take a look at Ghana and for that matter most African countries- there is heavy imbalance between imports and exports. The sad truth is that, till today we have not found it necessary to add value to our raw materials and then sell it for more money. When are we going to get it. My next door neighbor who is Indian tell me that their government does not allow foreign companies in their mobile phone business space. Their reason is that, they wan their companies to reach world standard capabilities through strategic alliances before opening up. This is the game being played all over. If we as people think there is a knowledge gap, we should simply hire experts to help bridge it and then take over from there.
