SSNIT is one of the most corrupt agencies in Ghana, stealing from workers. Ghanaian workers contribute over 18 percent of their salaries to SSNIT. This is government sponsored fraud compared to what the workers get when they retire. Please put your yearly contributions in a reserve bond or to the local susu man. SSNIT won't even pay you medical benefits. This is stealing from workers.

My mother-in-law retired five years ago after more than 40 years as a health professional. After receiving pension payments for 2 months, no additional payments came forward. After waiting for 10 months without any pension payments, she went to Pension House in Accra where she was told that they stopped her payments because they received a letter from her regional office that she had passed away. She told them, as you can see I am not dead. She was told to go back and bring her original employment letter (dating back to more than 40 years) before her pension payments will resume. She managed to provide the employment letter but still her pension payments never resumed. She went back to pension house and they told her that the person who works on the computer to reinstate suspended payments is on leave so it will take a while. Finally somebody from Pension House said she would be able to help my mother-in-law but for a fee. My mother-in-law refused this request. So five years on, she has still not received any pension payments. This is money from her own sweat. How can you ask people to die for Ghana with this treatment?
