  This should be only the start of a more deserving and responsible management of our Forests, after a long hiatus of proper Management that has failed to stem the illegal activities and Murders of Forestry Personnel in the Field.
  
  We should move aggressively to repel the criminals who have caused us the loss of lives of dedicated Civil Servants and the need to import Wood from outside. It is sad that the plight of our Forests has not been given due attention till now, when we have been shoved under the onerous financial burden of having to spend our hard-earned foreign exchange on wood importation, an Economic activity the reverse of which we were rather engaged in to build our Nation since the beginning of our Nationhood, even under the exploitative Colonial subjugation.
  
  The way our Forests have gone is indicative of how badly we have managed our Nation for a long time. The current Government ought to do much more immediately to save our Forests because as our Forests vanish, so also would our natural assets of favorable Climate and Soil conditions to support our lives.
