  IMANI views are off the target. The question is did EC blow it up in the midst of availability of power? The clear answer is NO!!! So to descend heavily on EC because of the recent problems largely caused by shortfall in power production is disingenuous. That does not mean the EC has no challenges of its own. The other fact is VRA is responsible for distributing power in the norther parts of Ghana and they have their challenges.
  I wish IMANI addressed building codes which will reduce power consumption. homes and offices with air conditions are not insulated. This leads to leakage of power. To ameliorate this I suggest graduated tariffs. There should be threshold for all beyond which the rates go up.
  The strategy of supplying power to every hamlet in Ghana is not feasible immediately. A look at China will shed light on possible solutions. They are building new cities with all infrastructure and moving people into them systematically.

  The government must be commended for it's commitment to solve our electricity problem with the gas pipeline which can supply gas plants for electricity production. But these will not be sufficient to meet our electricity requirement to become an industrialized nation which is around 12,000 MG. The solution is to go nuclear.
