  Yes, and the only way to broaden the tax base is to be able to identify each individual by having a reliable addressing system where mails are delivered to homes instead of the post office, where every individual is identified by where he or she lives and works. Driver licenses, vehicle registration, utility bills etc are all tied to ones home address, then you can increase your tax base. The addressing system is of paramount concern and should be treated as a priority. The addressing system can also improve essential services like the ambulance and make police and security related works easier and more effective.

Government should register all these workers and prosecute those who don't register in order to pay taxes. Our government officials are too lazy when it comes to doing the hard work.

  JJ is the cause of this nonsense. He force those who wrote the 1992 constitution to insert that clause into the law of the land as if he was "GOD". Foolishness at its highest.

  It is a crime on citizens of Ghana to be paying the ridiculous amount of duty on imported goods when we lack in manufacturing any goods. After struggling overseas and trying to come home and invest home, our own corrupt gov't stands in the way and rip us off. We have to pay almost half price of what ever we import into the country in taxes. Where are the smart people in the country ?
