Foreign direct investment is not the answer to our budget shortfalls, sirs! The foreign investor is only interested in making a profit and in exploitation, not in our development. FDI only exacerbates our economic woes. We must look to exploit our resources ourselves. Let us pool together the financial resources we have, and use that to invest in our economy. Government should set up a development/investment fund to which Ghanaians, including those in the diaspora, with the means can contribute. The fund would be used to invest in profitable projects for which we are currently seeking foreign investment. Part of the profits accruing from these projects would be returned to investors as dividends on the shares they hold.
