Computerize and camerize the port such that you don't need to haggle with customs much less pay any bribe to a lazy person in the port in order to take out your hard earned property from the port that is suppose to help economic growth in the country. you can pay the cedes equivalent on line and claim your vehicle with the receipt shown to the custom officer who ensure that no one torches your vehicle at the port by routinely taking care of the cameras and the property at the port.

Both importers and Customs officials are always at fault when it comes to clearing process at the ports. Importers and their agents always under declare quantity and value of goods and expect officers to process it without question. Goods with proper documentation always get cleared without problems.
It is only goods with fake invoices and wrong piece counts that creates the problems and allow the officers to demand bribes etc. Negotiating the bribe takes time and therefore causes delays.
Importers and their agents can reduce the delays by declaring the shipment correctly at all times. You cannot expect the officers to do right when your declared shipment does not match what has been discovered during inspections.

One thing is clear; they don't understand the principles of cycle of production. Mahama should understand that he is stifling business and economic growth in Ghana by slapping high taxes on imports and businesses. Goods are out of reach to Ghanaians (Customers) as a result of this reckless act. Every pesewas that's added on to duties boils down to prices on the market, or it's passed on to the customer/buyer. Already people are crying for economic relief; Mahama too says they can't have that. Wow! It's all common sense; whatever increases are made on duties will be borne by the consumer. Govt. must be careful how it conducts business.
I'm not against taxes; it's the right way to generate income for govt. and the nation. However it shouldn't have to be painful for business and consumers. So far, John Mahama's govt. has demonstrated that they cannot do anything good for Ghana and must prepare to abdicate the seat for a better man.
Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr. Bawumian & Co., are ready to steer things in the right direction to make Ghana a happy place. Mahama doesn't know "kotooo!"

Majority of the Clearing Agents and the importers are crooks. they are very corrupt as much as the custom officials at the ports, they are nation wreckers and they know it.
Everything in Ghana is a big mess. We have no leaders. What a shame!
