  This is what Chief MKO Abiola wanted to do, but the dark forces in Nigeria killed him. Even though we a small river the Volta, there are 15 sites that the country can construct mini hydro dams of which eight are in southern Ghana namely in Central and Western regions and seven in northern region and one in Upper West. Mahama must look into the hydro and solar for solutions to our energy security.

WE NEED TO USE THE FREE ENERGIES THE MORE IN ORDER TO REDUCE COST ENERGY/UNIT FOR OUR CONSUMERS. JUST FANCY HOW WHEN GHANA WAS ENERGY SUFFICIENT WHEN USING ONLY HYDRO ENERGY? ENERGY WAS SO CHEAP AND VALCO WAS AT FULL PRODUCTION CAPACITY? I CAN REMEMBER THE TEMA BOYS ESPERCIALLY THE VALCO ONES IN MY SECONDARY SCHOOL DAYS?   The article is, yet, another, in a long series of 'woe is us' commentaries regarding energy and utilities in African nations.
  
  The obvious intent of Mr. Pilskog's words is to promote the solar energy industry and himself.
  
  The best approach for the lack (absence?)of economical energy for the continent is nuclear - period.
  
  Solar energy is EXPENSIVE - and will be for the next 100 years.
  
  One 'political' comment in the article; "Although Africa is rich in oil, gas, coal and renewable energy resources, electricity is hard to come by -- which traps people in poverty"...is ABSURDLY false.
  
  Individual freedom within nations which protect liberty among all people - eliminates poverty altogether.
  
  The United States USED to be the champion of freedom and liberty - but our government is, now, as corrupt as half of the nations in Africa - and that's why we're promoting poverty - over free enterprise.
