Where is common sense gone? When there is large youth unemployment in Ghana. Can't the Forestry Commission to engage in replanting more trees and pay them to restock for the future.

Trust me, corruption has absolutely broken down all structures in the Ghanaian society. The existing structures should have made it difficult to come to the devastating situation happening today, but guess what, corrupt practices have made it as if alien vampires are eating our forest up whiles we look helplessly.
I have been in that industry before and, truly speaking big chuck of this mess is caused by so-called foreign investors. Government has given concessions in forest areas in Ghana to these people without any better agreements because of corruption and they are just stealing our timber and destroying other economic and environment resources like rivers, farm products, dumping waste machinery in forest areas, etc without questioning because some unscrupulous ministry officials, forestry officers, police, local chiefs, etc are chopping chicken change dollars from foreign companies operating in timber. Take note of; Why do we deplete our forest for peanut incomes that cannot be used to cure the damage? Stop export! Why wouldn't government forest policy be inversely directed towards alternative materials for construction like metal, plastics, other fibres, etc which are much used everywhere now? These days one can construct houses, etc. with less or no wood at all, so why can't government encourage that by lowering excise and import taxes to shift demand to those materials? As you hinted, blackman is really still behaving like monkey in this modern age.
