  Lets stop this fear-mongering crap! Do we have a clue what percentage of food is, somehow, tainted with GMOs? By this call, all beef importation will be banned, ice cream, milk and dairy products will be banned, poultry products will be banned, feeds for poultry will be banned, canola cooking oil will be banned, and the list continuous. What is killing us is the trash we throw about indiscriminately all over our cities,the feces we throw about, the filth we live in, the kind of toilet we use in Nima and Pigfarm, the contaminated water used to water vegetables near Dzorwulu, and this list also continuous. We should exert our efforts on these areas instead of attacking a biologically advanced technology that is keeping up with the challenges of the 21st century.

  Where are the opposition Parties? Do they not have anything against this dangerous issue?

  THEY GO DIRECTLY INTO THE NUCLEUS AND ALTER THE GENES OR DISPLACE THE ORIGINAL GENE(S) WITH DIFFERENT GENE(S). HENCE THE TERM GENETIC ENGINEERING.

  I can't understand the insistence by a few obviously compromised scientists and political office holders on introducing GM crops into Ghana when technologically advanced Europe and India reject this technology.
  We have a well-informed government and legislature which should at least adopt a cautious approach requiring a national debate in the handling of this sensitive matter.
  It is sad that we are throwing all caution to the wind in the quest to become agents of neo colonialism . My consolation is that the farmers and masses are not fooled and it would only require a call- up for the nation to reject this evil programme.

  in the western world, these products are labelled so the buyers can make their choice but in Africa/Ghana who cares to lebell these food items.this means everybody´s health is at risk.
  (PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE)

  Agree,....but the government has already allocated lands for GM here. can we even tell which foods are GM? Also the way world trade have structured the trade policies, if you ban import of somebody's tomatoes (even though you are growing your own) they can also refuse to buy your rice. So one has to plan ahead to negotiate and find new markets who will not be aggressive with trade barriers, but in the end it has to benefit Ghana and whatever country they want to ban foods from.
