Firstly, gold prices TODAY are higher than they were in 2008, so if your mining company has fired 3000 workers then the problem is mismanagement at your mining company/ problems with Ghana power, light, etc. It is a proven fact that the global economic meltdown actually increased the prosperity of gold companies so you can't use that as an excuse.
Secondly, bail out what? Many businesses fail. If your company has wasted the opportunities of higher prices these last 5 years, and you are now in trouble, then your company should probably close.

If gold goes down much lower, there will be a LOT more than 400 miners laid off in 2014. Mines will start shutting down and thousands will be laid off!
