  It's about time that the gov't got serious with transfer pricing schemes that multinational corporations have used for so long to deprive the country of it's tax revenues.

  Most multinational establishments evade tax in their countries of business operations by capitalizing on the ignorance or lack of expertise of the tax officials on the Transfer Pricing system to divert their profits to their parent corporations abroad. It is therefore a welcome news that Ghana Revenue Authority is taking a critical look at the business profits of multinationals in Ghana to ensure that a fair proportion of their profits are appropriately taxed but not be allowed to be transferred abroad.

  A separate office needs to be created by GRA purposely to deal in Transfer Pricing issues to rake in much more taxes which the multinationals as diverting over our heads to their parent countries. Workshops, seminars and training must be organized intensively for GRA personnel to be abreast with best practices in global accounting systems and financial management skills with emphasis on Transfer Pricing. These days globalization has made businesses in foreign countries lucrative and governments in the advanced world are gaining more from the multinational establishments abroad through the TP system.
