  Diamond (from the Akyem in the Eastern Region) --- 2,633,527 ct
  Bauxite (from the Western Region) --- 333,458 mt
  Manganese (from the Western Region) --- 596,572 mt

  Value today:
  Gold --- $1400 per oz
  Diamond --- from $1500 to $150,000 per carat (depending on the quality)
  Bauxite --- $150 per mt
  Manganese --- $450 per tonne
  
  Even though today diamond production from Akyem has stopped temporarily Akyem districts must be given its fair share of projects. Discrimination against Akyems districts has been going on for at least the last forty years. A visit to the Akyem districts would indicate the poor state of districts: bad roads, poor infrastructure. The state of the districts is not reflective of the revenue it has contributed over the last 100 years.
  
  People do not know that Akyems and Ashantis are two different groups of people but they are all Akans.and existed as two different states about 150 years ago. They are all Akans and have some things in common. Akyem districts make up more than half of the population of the Eastern Region.
