  We can seriously start improving on our economic woes if GRA workers seriously went round every nook and cranny to collect taxes especially from the informal sector. We can turn our fortunes round. Apathy on doing what is right is the bane of our lives. Mr Prez, please SACK all your management team members who fail to deliver. They should all rise up to the challenge, get their hands dirty and work. The problem of Ghanaians is attitudinal and indiscipline and we need to change for the good of our dear nation. MR PREZ, PLEASE SACK ALL NON-PERFORMING LEADERS AND REPLACE THEM TO DYNAMIC ONES WHO WILL EFFECT A CHANGE SO THAT YOU CAN ALSO HAVE PEACE. PLEASE BE BOLD AND ACT!!!

  The best example of the informal sector is all the Big Men who think they are above paying taxes.
  It is bad enough that they are immoral but the lack of GRA doing anything about it is a crime.

  What is your recommendation for the government. After putting all these figures in the public domain, can't you suggest something that should be done to remedy the situation.

  It's not the spending which is important but the context within which the done. That is the one important. If you say Government overspend and leave at that, what does that mean? Does the overspending mean they bought Kelewel ...

  It's not the spending which is important but the context within which the done. That is the one important. If you say Government overspend and leave at that, what does that mean? Does the overspending mean they bought Kelewele or the overspending mean they provide water, electricity, housing to needy communities etc?

  Since every loan must be repaid, that money spent better return something so the loan can be serviced without impacting other parts of the economy. if you provide water, electricity and housing to need communities who cannot ever repay even 20% of the cost, you still owe the money. That wins you votes in those poor areas but at the cost of governing with huge debt hanging over your neck. Then you keep raising taxes and utility tariffs monthly to come up with the money to pay those loans and bonds. Like what we have been seeing now. Borrowing and spending is ok, only if what the money is spent on will earn enough to pay back. any other time, it is a boat anchor and will blow your debt sky high. and with that your credit rating and inflation and currency will follow right behind.

  Its pretty simple. The government borrows in USD but only earns Cedis so with a recent decrease in the Cedis of 20% that means they have to find 20% more Cedis to pay them back before interest. Debt where the Cedi is out of ...

  Its pretty simple. The government borrows in USD but only earns Cedis so with a recent decrease in the Cedis of 20% that means they have to find 20% more Cedis to pay them back before interest. Debt where the Cedi is out of control (because the budget is) is bad bad bad.

  It is pathetic they just present bad news with no actual response. So what are they actually going to do about it? This first quarter report is shocking and real action needs to be taken. It is pretty obvious - get big men to start paying tax and reduce the public service immediately.
