Mr VP, the people of Ghana stood in the scorching sun for hours to vote for you and your party to manage the economy for the betterment of Ghanaians. We did not vote for a power sharing government or national government for us to go to a national conference for solutions to the economy. You said you could manage the economy better than your opponents and so should be give the mandate. The good people of Ghana listened to you and gave you the mandate. So where is this national conference coming from? The NDC government was given the sole mandate to manage the economy. No other political party or civil society group was given that mandate. If you have now realized that you have made a mess of the Economy and that you do not have any more solutions to make the economy better for the people , be bold, say so and request that we go for election to elect new government. In the corporate world if you are given a job and after your probation period, your boss finds that you are not up to the task, you are given three options. The first is to own up and say you do not have the skills to do the job in which case you request for further training, or resign on your own volition or wait for the end of the assessment period to be sacked for non-performance. You do not ask for a corporate conference for anything.If you have failed, please owned up and request for fresh elections. This national conference on the Economy will not yield any results so far as your Fiifi Kwartey, Asiedu Nketia etc continue to engage in propaganda and outright lies all over the place. We voted for you to do the job. Please keep quite and do it or resign and lets go for fresh election. We cannot accept this national conference nonsense.

The VP came out of his hibernation carefully couching his words on the present state and re-direction and restructuring of the national economy. What more could the soft spoken VP say? This is an indirect admission of his own administration's failure to handle the economy which has been in dire straits since Atta Mills took over as President. Contrary to President Mahama's "ma trick wo" assurances that the economy is healthy and on course to deliver , Amissah Arthur, a trained economist, knows darn well belly up is its true description but for fear of being called all sorts of unprintable names by foul-mouthed NDC lackeys and apologists he prefers the subtle midnight call for help, even if it has to come from "enemy camp" of all places. As well intentioned as he might want to be, this SOS outreach should be considered dead on arrival. Will the opposition respond to the call to national duty from the haughty but blundering NDC ,and, if they did, would the administration eat humble pie by accepting their recommendations? This is a futile attempt to resustitate a comatose economy and in my mind's eye I can visualize VP Amissah Arthur throwing his hands up in the air in utter frustration. Much as the country's expectations were not fully met from the Kuffour NPP administration and opted for change after 8 years, the performance of the NDC, especially this present Mahama administration has been too abysmal for comfort and they should consider themselves fired come 2016. Read my lips.

Even in the US, congresspeople do not get these series of free rides.They pay for their own accommodation and drive their own vehicles.Mr vice president,leadership must originate from your office downwards.The common people of Ghana have suffered for a long time.You do not want them to take to the streets like in Egypt,Iran etc before you listen to them?

I start the forum by proposing that the staff strength at the Flagstaff House be reduced by about 15%.Deputy Ministers and Presidential Advisors should be pruned down.I will add a few more proposals soon.

We need government to consult with the public on the economy to explain policy and build a consensus on the direction of travel.

The economy affects everyone, so should not be politicised.
