Point of order on the ambit of corporate governance
Corporate governance has only one conventional meaning: governance of the private sector through the incorporated private trading company.
That means it excludes public sector governance or management.
One is driven to clarify the confusion of Mr Alhassan Andani, Managing Director, Stanbic Bank, when he said:
"Mr Alhassan Andani, Managing Director, Stanbic Bank, has called for the enhancement of corporate governance in an effort to build the economy.
He said innovation of the public sector and e-governance, public sector management and employment, public finance and fiscal policy, regulatory policy and risk management, which were the tenets of corporate governance, were very critical in the total development of every country"
Corporate governance is at the heart of the private sector management and it should not be confused with the public sector management.
Identity crisis is a mountain to climb in development analysis.
