GE coming to Ghana is a good sign.
They have many products and would bring healthy business atmosphere. We need such PLCs to set the standards for our local industries to emulate.

It becomes irrelevant and cannot add anything to the economy if there is gas shortage or a breakdown in the gas pipes.
What Ghana need is an alternative power generating plants not reliant on gas full stop

I have to agree with the renewable angle (Issah-UK). GE is an octopus with vast expertise to offer however we have to ask why a renewable option is not being pursued?

GE has been in Ghana for so many years. They were represented by GECAD which is now defunt.
They supplied so many turbines and generators for many power plants in Ghana.

Energy Ministry, better sit up before the get themselves entangled with an Amercan MNC like GE,which always plays hardball. I can say without any equivocation that, there is going to be a hidden clause somewhere in this agreement, that will cost us a pretty con,if we do not play by their rules!
And let me warn these lazy and inept officials to do their homework properly,or this country will pay dearly for it! And let`s remember that GE has political muscle given their political ties to the beltway in the capital city of Washington,DC.

Why is the government not pursuing the renewable option (Solar). Creating green jobs. Even countries with poorer climatic conditions have a renewable policy to meet their energy demand. Why not Ghana?

GE is run by lawyers and accountants. These deals are not in the interest of the country. The government should sit up and find a renewable (Solar) solution thus creating jobs for graduates.
